Reduce your Bounce Rate : Must Read

When I started blogging, I did not know what Bounce Rate actually meant. Is it good to have 100% bounce rate or 0% bounce rate? I did not know the answer to any of these questions! But then, I wanted to know the answer to those questions so I did research on what is bounce rate and what is the amount it should be? High or low? Well, then I actually found out what does Bounce Rate mean.

Today, I would like to share with you what I learnt. Bounce rate is defined as the ratio of number of viewers who viewed only one page on your website to the total number of visitors to your website. And thus, I found out that the lower the bounce rate, better it is. At the time of researching, my bounce rate was around 70%, but after reading how to reduce it on various blogs,I found the most effective ways to achieve that. At the time of posting this, our Bounce Rate is around 50-52%.

The few ways that could help you achieve do that are :

  1. Easy Navigation : Navigation is one of the most important thing on the website to reduce the bounce rate. If the visitor can easily navigate through the menu, then the visitor shall attempt to see more pages on your blog. One of the best way to provide easy navigation to the visitors is by providing with the related posts below that post, so that the user can easily browse other posts under the same topic, which the user might find useful!

  2. Relevant Content: This is also known as Niche. If you blog under the same category or topics, it is found to bring in more page views/viewer, which in turn decreases your bounce rate! If the user comes to your blog/website from Google when he searched for "WordPress tips" or "Blogging tips", would it not help you if you had number of articles on the same thing, rather than having them on all the topics on the internet.

  3. Ways to Subscribe : For a better bounce rate, you want your viewers to come back to your blog next time. But to do this, you need to keep them engaged. You can do this by providing them various ways to subscribe to your blog. Offer them RSS Feeds, RSS Feeds via email or even the most famous social networking website these days, Facebook.

  4. Better Sidebar : Sidebar is something that will always appear to the visitor, when he/she is reading the post. So, if you optimize the sidebar by providing informative links in the sidebar, it is proven to get you a better bounce rate. You could provide them with the most popular or the featured posts of all times in the sidebar, which they might want to look.

Well, this is all for now! I will share more ways to achieve that, when I come across the same in my day-to-day blogging. Hope this helps you reduce your bounce rate. Keep subscribed to TechHive for more such guides on every topic!
