When I started this blog in the month of March 2011, I was guided by my friends and advised on all topics that I faced problems on. I would like to share the teachings I learnt from them before starting a new blog. Well, the teaching I got were pretty common ones, which make uncommon changes to your blog and blogging career. I was actually surprised when I saw that after following these things, I was able to make better decisions for my blog!
Choose the Domain name Wisely : Domain name is your Identity on the internet and you should choose it wisely. You should include words in the domain name that are easy to remember and can be remembered by your visitors. And lastly, the domain name should not be too long. It should be short and simple.
- Decide your Niche : Niche is defined as the topics about which you write on your blog. Don't mix up your blog with posts on every single topic on the internet. Write about what you know and what you are learn. Like, if you know about SEO and you are learning it from any source, make a blog with its niche as SEO. The domain name you decide should match your niche appropriately.
- Do not Blog for Money : When I thought of making a blog, it was because I wanted to make money from my
blog. But, everyone told me that never blog for money. If you blog for money, you will never make money. And till today, I have not earned a single penny from my blog, as I never put ads on my blog till I gain some amount of readers that are regular, which I have not got till now!
- Design your Site : Design is an another important criteria for your blog. If your blog's design is all messed up with all irregularities, people might get irritated from your blog and stop visiting it. Keep your design clean and simple.
Blog Promotion : Promoting your blog is a very difficult thing, if you do not do it the right way! Learn from the masters how to promote your blog and build subscribers. Because, if you do not have a good readership, your blog will not stand out from the other blogs.
- Should you blog? : Well,the last thing that comes to my mind is whether you should blog or not. It is why you are want to blog. If you are doing that for your passion, do it! If you are doing that to spread knowledge, definitely do it! But, if you just want to blog because everyone around you is doing, think over it again! And lastly, if you are blogging for money, forget it!
