VPN for iPhone, iPod, iPad : Free

VPN services are getting very common these days to protect one's identity online! And if you are one of those who uses a lot of internet on your Gadgets apart from a computer, i.e. on your iPad, iPhone or the iPod, then you also need to secure your internet usage on these devices. There are various paid and free VPN services available for the Desktop computers or laptops, but not for handheld devices. There are some available for a cost for the iPhone, iPod or the iPad. I recently found a free VPN service for the iPhone, iPod or the iPad and it is working pretty good on my iPod Touch 3rd Generation.

VPN Map Defined

Here is a tutorial on how to set up a VPN on your iPhone, iPod or the iPad. The procedure is the same for all the devices. The procedure is divided into two parts. One part on your computer and the other on your iPhone. Let's begin with the first part now!

Get Free VPN Access - Register

  • First, you will have to go to Very Fast VPN and register for an account.

  • After you have completed the registration process, login to your account and visit this link to find a server for yourself. Since you have signed up for a free trial, make sure you choose the server which says Free Trial  next to it.
    Free VPN Server iPhone

  •  By finding a server, I just meant note down the IP Address of the server provided there.

Well, this concluded the first part of the tutorial. Now to set up this VPN on your iPhone, proceed to the next part of the post!

Set up Free VPN on iPhone

  • I hope you have the server address which you copied in the previous step. Now, on your iPhone, open settings and go to General.
    iPhone General Settings

  • Then choose Network and then VPN.
    iPhone VPN Browse

  • Then choose Add VPN Configuration and do the following settings. Make sure you put the correct IP Address and the username and password otherwise it will not work! In the field marked Secret, enter "veryfastvpn" without the quotes. And make sure that Proxy is set to "Off"
    Set up VPN on iPhone

  • Now on the page that appears, choose VPN On but before that, make sure you are connected to a WiFi or a 3G Network.

  • If you did everything as guided, you will see something like this!
    VPN Activated on iPhone

There is just one drawback of this free Service that it is a trial period of about 2 Hours. It is not 2 hours of usage it is 2 hours from the time of registering your account. So, register your account when you are going to use the VPN Service on your iPhone or iPod! Choose wisely. iOS 6 : All you need to know

The much awaited Apple's iOS 6 is finally here! Apple announced its new operating system for its devices, the iOS 6 at the WWDC 2012 yesterday! It has been a very hectic schedule for the people over there and finally, we have a completely new iOS, the iOS 6! There are various features that have been added to the new iOS 6 and I will try to cover them all over here. Also, just before the start of the event, the Apple Store went down, as usual which is now back up!

iOS 6 Logo

New 3D Maps in iOS 6:

Apple has announced new 3D Maps in its new iOS, the iOS 6. The maps claim to be more accurate and show you everything in 3D ! Isn't that cool? Well, here is a preview of the 3D maps that was posted earlier on The Verge. The image clearly shows the 3D Maps, which look pretty cool to me! Also, these maps will now feature recent incident-reports which will alert you if you are reaching close to a place where an accident or some hazard has taken place. Also, real-time traffic updates will be provided!

Siri for iPad (3rd Generation) on iOS 6 :

Apple has also announced that Siri, the personal assistant on the iPhone 4s will now be available to iPad 3 users as well on the iOS 6. Also, they have made Siri smarter! Siri is not capable of telling you the score of your favorite game, that is being played live anywhere in the world. Also, it can tell you various other stats! Maybe, we should give it a try!

Combining the Apple ID and your Phone Number :

Apple has also announced that now your Apple ID and your mobile phone number can be linked! With this being done, you will be able to answer a FaceTime call on your Phone number on your Mac as well as reply to your iMessages from your Mac. I can already see that this will be a great change!

Better Call Management :

With the new iOS 6, Apple has made its call handling on the iPhone a better thing! Now, when you are in a meeting, you can simply reject the call with different messages or even set up automated replies when you are in a meeting! This is a great update because a lot of iPhone users are Business people and they attend a lot of meetings these days! One more thing that is added to this is that when a call is rejected with SMS, your phone will eventually remind you that you are supposed to call back the other person if you chose such an option while rejecting the call.

Integration :

Apple has surprisingly removed the Twitter integration with the new iOS 6, but you can still tweet using your friend, the Siri! Facebook integration has been done with the Game Center, which will let you keep track of your Facebook scores on the Game Center. This has been an effect of the launch of the Facebook App Center for iOS as well.

iOS 6 Beta Available for Developers :

Also, the iOS 6 Beta version is available for developers and Apple announced that they will be releasing the iOS 6 for everyone this fall! So gear up everyone! Get your Version of the iOS 6 if you are a developer!
