Mastering SEO Is Essential To Effective Blogging

One of the topics I like to write about from time to time is the art of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). In the past I’ve gone over a few tips to help you optimize your blog, and I’ll continue to share more insights as time goes on, but here’s the thing…if you are serious about blogging and serious about getting your website to show up in the search engines, then you must become a student of SEO…period.

I really can’t underscore enough the importance of this. Getting your content on the front page of Google doesn’t happen by accident. There is a science to ranking for the keywords that your target reader is using as a search term, and you owe it to yourself to master that science – because you’d better believe that other bloggers in your niche will.

Do yourself a favor. Ask yourself the following questions, and answer them honestly. If more than one is an “I don’t know,” then you’re leaving a lot of good traffic on the table. Traffic that is leading searchers to other blogs, where they become fans of another writer in your market.

  • Do you know what page rank means?

  • Do you know what backlinks are and where to get them? And I mean good backlinks, one’s that actually help your rankings.

  • What should you use for your anchor text?

  • Where should you submit articles?

  • How should you structure your website?

  • Should you link to other sites, and when?

  • What about sites that link to you?

  • What is a no-follow link? How do they affect your blog?

  • What should you say in your title tag?

  • How do you find good keywords?

Alright, you get the point. There are a ton of things to know and learn about SEO and I plan on helping you along the way through tips on this blog. I am more than happy to help you learn the tactics needed to get your blog to the top of the search engine results pages, but it will take time… I’ve got other fun stuff to write about as well.

If you decide to take this SEO Course, I know you’ll benefit from what you learn and be well on your way to good rankings in Google and other search engines. Either way, you can always check back here for more tips and tricks to help your search rankings.
